Damper Systems / Pipework Damping

Damping in all directions with one single device

Damping is decisive for the dynamic behavior of an elastically supported system. Damping reduces resonance phenomena and limits shock-like movements by dissipating mechanical energy and converting it into heat. GERB Viscodampers® use the dissipative properties of highly viscous fluids and dampen movements in all spatial directions at the same time.

Due to the selective use of damping, elastic support systems can be optimised, costs can be reduced and installations can be made possible, for example in case of earthquake excitations.

GERB Viscodampers® are used effectively in a wide range of applications. For example, for the elastic support of forging hammers and presses, for turbines, pumps and blowers, for earthquake protection of buildings and structures as well as in tuned mass dampers.

Reliability and durability of piping systems are strongly influenced by their dynamic properties. Dynamic excitations occur during normal operations as well as in cases of disturbance and emergencies. They can lead to undesirable vibrations and sometimes to system failures.

To protect pipes and facility components, GERB Viscodampers® are implemented worldwide in power plants and facility construction.

GERB offers special pipework dampers that provide the following technical advantages:

Dampers for different areas of application are available.
